My Removal from the Medium Partner Program
The following email showed up this morning in my inbox: “Notice of removal from Medium’s Partner Program”.
The impersonal email goes on to read:
“To be clear, this doesn’t have anything to do with the quality of your writing. It’s part of a larger effort designed to make the Partner Program work better for more creators on Medium”.
Like all of you, the writing I do is not for Medium. It is for the audience on Medium, the people for whom my deeply personal words would resonate, perhaps some of you.
Not sure about the rest of you, but I personally felt betrayed and abandoned by this action. I don’t write for the $, but for the ability to share what is deeply within me as:
- The parent of a child with a disability
- The parent whose child passed away unexpectedly at age 5 ½
- A person of faith
- A married father of four
- A person who loves the written word
